The Ford EcoSport is a 5-seater mini SUV from the Ford India Private Limited. The Ford Motors has already tested this mini SUV in Brazil long back in 2003. Seeing that in the Indian market compact cars are getting popularity the FIPL has showcased the EcoSport modifying the Brazilian model to suit the Indian conditions. The Ford EcoSport comes in 6 petrol and 5 diesel variants priced Rupees 6.75 to 10.20 lakh. Two of the variants Titanium Ecoboost and Titanium Ecoboost (O) use 1 litre petrol engines. The petrol variant Titanium 1.5 Ti-VCT AT has an automatic transmission.
The external appearance of the EcoSport is quite eye catching. The EcoSport comes in colours of kinetic blue, panther black, sea grey, mars red, moon bust silver, chill metallic and diamond white. The front fascia has body coloured bumpers with sharp fog lights, an octagonal grille with a thick chrome strip, a prominent bonnet line, large head light fittings, a broader air dam and a wind screen of toughened laminated glass. Other features include body coloured door handles, rear view mirrors fitted with turn indicators, bright tail lamp clusters, a rear spoiler, high mounted stop lamps, a pair of reflectors and stylish roof rails.
The cabin of the EcoSport is spacious and comfortable. The standard features include high mounted plush seats, a dash board in silver and black combination, ice blue back light in panels, leather wrapped steering wheel with mounted audio controls, the foldable rear seats, a tilt steering, power windows, a manual AC, electric ORVMs with blinkers. The diesel ones use 1500 cc, 90 bhp, and 214 NM torque engines giving mileages of 22.7 kmpl. The dimensions of the Ford EcoSport are 3999 mm length, 1765 mm width and 1708 mm height with a ground clearance of 200 mm. The tyres are R15 type for the base and R16 type for the top variants.
